Senior Accountant

Location | Plano, TX

The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing general ledger entries and supporting calculations, maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts, assisting with the financial reporting process, and assisting with special projects as needed. They supports the Corporate Controller and does not have any direct reports.

Duties + Responsibilities

  • Prepare general ledger entries and supporting calculations, maintain records and files, and reconcile accounts.
  • Account for loan origination activities and servicing revenue recognition.
  • Calculate and track commission payments.
  • Input outgoing wires and internal banking transfers, as needed.
  • Assist in coordination of data collection and preparation of state/local tax filings.
  • Assist with employee expense reimbursement/payment process.
  • Assist with preparation of compliance related filings.
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
  • Find solutions to accounting, financial reporting, and other related issues by researching and interpreting data.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
  • Assist with the quarterly and annual financial reporting process, including the creation of financial statements, footnotes, and supporting calculations and documentation.
  • Assist with annual audits, including preparation of support schedules and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Complete and assist with other department projects, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of two years of prior accounting experience.
  • Public accounting experience is a plus.
  • CPA is a plus.
  • Real estate or financial services experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central or other general ledger software.
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Dependable, motivated team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Real estate or financial services experience is a plus.
