Carlton Watts

Managing Director, Deputy Chief Underwriter

Carlton Watts is a Managing Director, Deputy Chief Underwriter at NewPoint, focusing on Freddie Mac Optigo® and Fannie Mae DUS® executions. He has more than 20 years of experience in Agency multifamily finance.

Watts joined NewPoint in 2021 from Greystone, where he served in many leadership roles as Deputy Chief Underwriter, most notably being responsible for the underwriting and delivery of all conventional and seniors housing transactions across the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae platforms. While at Greystone, he managed the processing of more than $10 billion in Agency financings. Previously, Watts was a Vice President/Deputy Chief Underwriter with Grandbridge Real Estate Capital and was responsible for a team of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac credit professionals that underwrote approximately $5 billion of Agency financing.  Earlier in his career, he was a Financial Analyst with Drummond Company.

Watts holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Real Estate from The University of Alabama and an MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
