Karu Arulanandam

Karu Arulanandam is the Head of Affordable Underwriting for NewPoint. He has over thirty years of commercial real estate experience.

Arulanandam joined NewPoint from CBRE, where he served as the Chief Underwriter of CBRE’s Affordable Housing Underwriting Team, which he formed and closed over $2.1 billion in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans in 2020. Prior to that, Arulanandam was a deputy chief underwriter at Prudential Mortgage Capital Company.

He was a founding member of and director in the Targeted Affordable Housing Underwriting Group at Freddie Mac. His other work experience includes commercial mortgages at Allstate Insurance Companies, eminent domain at the City of Des Moines, Iowa, and the appraisal of commercial, agricultural, and residential properties with Jones Lang Wootton in Malaysia.

Arulanandam graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Australia, majoring in Real Estate Valuations.
