Asset Manager- Covenant Compliance

Reports To: Managing Director, Asset Management
Location: Plano, TX

Under the direction and supervision of the Managing Director, Asset Management, the Covenant Compliance Asset Manager will track, update and report covenant information to several important clients.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility is to input and track covenant compliance data within Enterprise! loan system
  • Review loan documents, as needed, for covenant details to be extracted or updated within loan system
  • Work with internal project management/IT on data to be scripted into loan system
  • Refine procedures for efficiency and accuracy for tracking covenants
  • Work with Surveillance team on collecting any supporting documentation from Borrowers, as required under their specific loan documents
  • Work with internal Asset Management or External Asset Management to ensure borrower’s contractual compliance with loan documents
  • Produce on-going reports regarding the physical collateral, the credit risk associated with the loan, and specific action plans or recommendations for the lender / investor
  • Refine existing reporting to meet Client expectations
  • Mentor and develop junior associates in the department
  • Lead and participate in servicing and other company projects.

Qualifications

  • BBA in Finance, Real Estate or Finance preferred
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in:
    • Commercial / Multifamily Mortgage Lending and Commercial Real Estate Finance
    • Principles of securitization, MBS, and 3rd party loan servicing
    • Affordable housing programs and LIHTC financing
    • Commercial loan documents and underlying legal concepts regarding secured financing, lien priority, lender liability, creditor rights and bankruptcy rules
    • Financial analysis and basic accounting principles
    • Commercial construction principles and practices
    • Commercial Loan accounting principles, including interest accrual methods
  • Experience with all major property types is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Accuracy oriented with a sense of urgency and strong focus on customer service
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in an environment of uneven/cyclical workloads and tight deadlines

Corporate Cash Analyst

Reports To: Corporate Cash Manager
Location: Plano, TX

The Corporate Cash Analyst facilitates cash transactions and movements inside and outside of the organization.  Additionally, the Corporate Cash Analyst assists the Corporate Cash Manager by performing duties related to the organization’s cash flow and maintenance of banking relationships. They are part of the Treasury group which is responsible for ensuring optimal use and availability of the Company’s corporate cash and servicing deposits.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Execute cash transactions, including wires, ACH, and transfers, utilizing various banking interfaces
  • Manage and report on borrower deposit activity
  • Communicate and report on cash activity to various departments within the organization
  • Analyze interest income and bank fees to maximize company profitability
  • Assist with managing and monitoring the flow of cash coming into and going out of the organization, helping to ensure the company’s business and investment needs are met
  • Safeguard, verify, and control all cash assets by strictly adhering to organizational processes and procedures

Qualifications

NewPoint is seeking an innovative industry veteran to join our team and lead the company’s efforts in developing a premier, non-agency single-family rental (SFR) lending platform. The SFR Lending team is well positioned to leverage off of NewPoint’s extensive brokerage network, broad market presence, capital markets connectivity and existing production capabilities. The Director of Operations shall be responsible for all operational aspects of NewPoint’s SFR Lending platform, including IT strategy, risk management, accounting, staffing models, policies and procedures, reporting and regulatory compliance. The Director of Operations will work closely with executive leadership within NewPoint, including it’s CEO, Head of Proprietary Products, SFR Lending Program Manager, general counsel, investors, partners and clients.

  • Effectively develop and implement best-in-class SFR lending processes that ensures the business line runs smoothly in line with company goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field. MBA or advanced degree in Finance, Business Administration or Accounting preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant real estate finance operational experience.
  • Possess the requisite leadership, vision, and interpersonal skills to help motivate the staff and deliver exceptional operational outcomes to meet agreed upon growth objectives.
  • Self-starter who is capable of working independently in a fast-paced lending environment.

Executive Assistant

The Executive Assistant supports two executive positions, the Company President, and the COO. The EA serves as the primary contact for managing business scheduling and vetting, triaging, and prioritizing competing requests for both the President and the COO’s time from internal and external parties.  The EA will conduct the management of each of their respective offices with maximum efficiency to optimize their time and focus on key priorities.

The EA must be extremely poised, professional, exceptionally organized, and courteous in the role of the President’s and the COO’s gatekeeper to ensure all parties seeking their attention feel their requests are understood and are properly sequenced and scheduled.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Executes a broad variety of administrative tasks to ensure the respective Executive is managing their time to maximum efficiency including managing active and dynamically changing calendar of daily and weekly appointments. Plans, coordinates, and ensures both the President and the COO’s schedule is adhered to and respected. Ensures both are on time for continual series of meetings.
  • Coordinates all travel arrangements along with hotel, travel itineraries, expense reports and business materials and agendas.
  • Prepares each day’s schedule with required agendas for meetings and required research, documents, financials, and other information necessary to ensure each Executive’s fully prepared for each meeting. Follows up with meeting attendees for ownership on next steps and holds appropriate parties accountable for delivering required materials on time.
  • Works with other operations staff: HR, Marketing, etcetera as needed to obtain information or follow through on requests.
  • Communicates directly with staff on matters related to the Executive’s requests.
  • Screens incoming calls, determining whether it requires the attention of the Executive or can be delegated.
  • Researches, prioritizes, and follows up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the Executive, including those of a time sensitive or confidential nature. Determines appropriate course of action, referral, or response.
  • Maintains confidentiality of each Executive’s correspondence, files, and other documents.
  • Provides clear and direct communication between the Executive’s office and internal departments; demonstrating leadership to maintain credibility, trust, and support with senior management staff.
  • Coordinates with other EA’s on execution of internal and external business events including venue, menu, flowers, etc.
  • Partners closely and effectively with each Executive to keep him informed of developing matters and project progress, upcoming commitments, and responsibilities. Maintains continual communication with the President and the COO to adjust to schedule changes or new requests.
  • Successfully completes critical aspects of deliverables with a hands-on approach, including drafting letters, personal correspondence, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Proactively problem solves and develops back up plans to ensure lack of disruption in the Executive’s productivity and daily goals.
  • Meets with each of the Executives in the morning to review the day’s needs and at the end of the day to ensure next day is well organized.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
  • 7 years + experience supporting multiple senior business leaders required.
  • Experience in real estate a preferred.
  • Special events management a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat, and Social Media web platforms.
  • Flexibility on schedule with the ability to stay past traditional hours as needed.

Head of Capital Markets, Single-Family Rental Lending

NewPoint is seeking an innovative industry leader to join our team and hold a senior position in the company’s efforts in developing a premier, non-agency single-family rental (SFR) lending platform. The SFR Lending team is well positioned to leverage off NewPoint’s extensive brokerage network, broad market presence, capital markets connectivity and existing production capabilities. The Head of Capital Markets will be responsible for all capital markets aspects of the SFR business including product identification, hedging strategies and securitization. The Head of Capital Markets will work closely with the SFR Head of Operations, executive leadership within NewPoint, including its CEO, Head of Proprietary Products, SFR Lending Program Manager, general counsel, investors, partners and clients.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of proprietary SFR loan products for the firm.
  • Gather and evaluate economic, demographic and real estate specific data and oversee related business forecasting.
  • Lead sourcing of leverage for NewPoint’s SFR loan portfolio at both the asset and fund level, including warehousing financing and securitization activity.
  • Manage and optimize pledging of all eligible loans to warehouse facilities to maximize leverage and returns.
  • Review and negotiate related legal documents and work with internal and external stakeholders to monitor compliance with covenants at both the asset and fund level.
  • Manage hedging activities for NewPoint’s SFR lending strategy, including preparing recommendations to the CEO and head of Proprietary Products.
  • Manage relationships as needed with credit partners/clients/investors/vendors/etc..
  • Collaborate with all appropriate NewPoint employees and external partners to ensure buy-in and easy adoption of the SFR Lending strategy.

Reports To: CEO & President

The Head of Credit is responsible for the overall credit risk management of the company and oversees all credit related functions including the Underwriting and Closing functions and is responsible for the development, maintenance, and execution of all credit policies, underwriting processes, credit risk analysis, and transaction management related to successful structuring, originating and closing of Agency and select Non-Agency Loans.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Set the vision for NewPoint’s credit processes and functions and be “face” to the market, market participants, and capital partners with regard to our credit posture
  • Review early-stage business opportunities for prospects or for existing clients, providing insights as to risks, factors to be considered, additional information needed for decisioning, structuring changes, creative solutions, etc.
  • Collaborate with Product Manager(s) to develop new Products and Credit Solutions including drafting and maintaining related Credit Policies, Guidelines and specialized processes required to support the Business
  • Develop and maintain overall credit policy and provide oversight to all business and product lines
  • Ensure appropriate product/industry specialties are involved as a means of promoting sound underwriting
  • Define creative solutions relative to credit structures/opportunities.
  • Manage and/or oversee the due diligence/underwriting process, establishing credit policies and practices as it relates to various programs/financing
  • Directly manage underwriters supporting the Agency origination teams and enforce program requirements and provide oversight to and support for non-Agency underwriting teams
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring quality control standards
  • Manage audit of loan origination process and personnel periodically to ensure compliance with credit policies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance. economics or related field. Masters preferred
  • 10 – 15 years credit/commercial real estate/underwriting experience – with at least 5-years of Agency underwriting experience
  • Ability to understand capital markets and complex financing and product structures
  • General knowledge of underwriting and closing processes and requirements
  • Strong analytical abilities to grasp complex transactional issues and assess risk
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills along with organizational, communication and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills required along with the ability to collaborate and build relationships
  • Strong leadership capability and ability to manage in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment

Insurance Analyst

Reports To: Director, Insurance Risk Management
Location: Plano, TX

The Insurance Analyst works with borrowers and their brokers/agents to ensure that the property and casualty insurance coverage for the properties collateralizing NewPoint Real Estate Capital’s loans remains compliant with the requirements of the loan documents. He/she also has responsibility for NewPoint Real Estate Capital’s adherence to investor guidelines, servicing contracts, and service level agreements.  The Insurance Analyst works with the Director, Insurance Risk Management, and other members of the insurance team to optimize the use of technology and define and implement best practices.

Duties and responsibilities

  • For new loans, review the insurance section of the loan documents and lender/investor guidelines to determine the insurance requirements for the property/ies serving as collateral for the loans. Review the associated insurance documents to confirm that the documents provide adequate evidence that the insurance is in place and that the insurance coverage is compliant with the requirements.
  • For existing loans, review the insurance documents as they are renewed each year to confirm that the documents provide adequate evidence that the insurance is in place and that the insurance coverage is compliant with the requirements.
  • Maintains systems, files and information, following company and lender/investor guidelines.
  • Work with borrowers and their brokers/agents to reconcile non-compliant coverage within the lender’s/investor’s allotted time frame.
  • Ensure that all training requirements are met in a timely manner.
  • Maintain compliance with Key Performance Indicators.
  • In coordination with the Director, Insurance Risk Management, monitor and understand both lending and insurance industry trends (e.g. outsourcing), legislation and availability.
  • Assist servicing team in processing catastrophic insurance claims.
  • Participate in servicing and other company projects, as requested.

Qualifications

  • BBA/BS in Insurance, Finance, Real Estate or Accounting preferred, MBA a plus
  • ARM, CPCU, CISR, CIC or related certification completed or in process a plus
  • 2 – 3 years of P&C insurance experience, predominantly involving commercial real estate
  • Experience with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and/or FHA/Ginnie Mae
  • Knowledge and understanding of most aspects of commercial property and casualty insurance tracking and compliance associated with commercial mortgage servicing, including but not limited to:
    • Commercial mortgage loan documents
    • P&C insurance documents, including ACORD certificates, binders, and policies
    • Typical and specialty P&C insurance programs, coverages, etc.
    • Flood and seismic zones
    • Force-placed insurance
  • General knowledge of commercial real estate finance including an understanding of all types of loans, property types and real estate lenders

IT Support Specialist

Reports To: Managing Director – IT
Location: Chevy Chase, MD

The IT Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support for a full range of business technology, including computer systems (hardware and software), network infrastructure, telecommunications circuits, mobile devices, telephone systems, and audio-visual equipment. S/he must be able to independently assess a reported problem or failure using diagnostic methods and tools, determine the likely cause and take appropriate action to resolve the problem in a timely manner.   • Perform routine system troubleshooting/problem diagnosis and resolution.
  • Install and configure peripheral hardware devices and application software.
  • Configure, support and troubleshoot Microsoft Office applications as well as third-party add-ons.
  • Create and maintain build images for all computer models.
  • Perform typical IT support tasks, including connecting end-point devices, troubleshooting LAN and WAN connectivity faults, and configuring wireless access clients.

Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience in IT support
  • Undergraduate IT degree or equivalent industry certifications; or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Windows Terminal Services Server sufficient to configure client access and user profile settings
  • Experience with audio-visual technologies necessary to perform basic device configuration, mode selection and component-level troubleshooting
  • Experience working with outside vendors and 3rd party relations successfully
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems necessary to perform routine administrative (server and client) and end-user support functions
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office desktop applications necessary to install and support users from an operational perspective
  • Knowledge of mainstream cloud services (e.g. Google Apps, Microsoft Office365, Box.com) sufficient to provide end-user support, configure & troubleshoot access controls, install and configure third-party add-ons

Reports To: Director, Surveillance
Location: Plano, TX

The Relationship Manager – Loan Servicing QC, is responsible for managing the day to day oversight for the financial analyses for a given Client Relationship; working with a coordinator on the list of financials received on a daily basis; delivering reporting to the Director of Surveillance and our Vendor the list of financials received that the Vendor can input with prioritization included; working with their manager on work flow to meet deadlines based on Client requirements; and optimizing the use of technology, defining and implementing best practices, and training and developing associates.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact for a particular client relationship.
  • Communicate with Client on priorities or exceptions.
  • Communicate with manager any significant issues that could impact the Client relationship.
  • Provide reporting to manager of the status of deliverables relative to required deadlines.
  • Manage surveillance staff workflow on a day-to-day basis.
  • Schedule workflow so that all tasks/deliverables are accomplished by Clients’ required deadlines.
  • Resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner, and in compliance with policies and procedures and relevant loan documents.
  • Work with associates with an ongoing focus on improving processes and procedures as opportunities arise.
  • Ensure that Client requests are met on a timely basis, and that required documents and reports are submitted correctly and timely.
  • Cross train associates so they can work in multiple areas of Surveillance, both to improve the work experience and to eliminate key-man issues.
  • Work with associates to see that all training needs, both technical and interpersonal, are met in a timely manner.
  • Provide surveillance staff feedback on a real-time basis.
  • Work with team to meet deadlines for Clients that may not be their primary relationship.
  • Participate in the development and ongoing compliance of Key Performance Indicators.
  • Manage and continuously evaluate outsourcing relationships.
  • Lead and participate in servicing projects, as necessary.

Qualifications

  • BBA in Finance, Real Estate or Accounting preferred.
  • 5 – 10 years of loan servicing experience, predominantly commercial real estate loan servicing for multiple capital sources/investors, particularly GSE’s.
  • Working knowledge of commercial real estate finance including an understanding of all types of loans, property types and real estate lenders.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of commercial mortgage loan oversight, preferably in a cross-functional team environment, including but not limited to:
    • Loan documents, including covenants and triggers
    • Property financial statement and rent roll analysis
    • Understand property inspections and subsequent repairs
  • Strong leadership, process management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Detail and accuracy focused with a sense of urgency and strong focus on customer service.
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise! (or similar large scale servicing system).
  • Medium to advanced MS Office skills.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing general ledger entries and supporting calculations, maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts, assisting with the financial reporting process, and assisting with special projects as needed. He/she supports the Corporate Controller and does not have any direct reports.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare general ledger entries and supporting calculations, maintain records and files, and reconcile accounts
  • Account for loan origination activities and servicing revenue recognition
  • Calculate and track commission payments
  • Input outgoing wires and internal banking transfers, as needed
  • Assist in coordination of data collection and preparation of state/local tax filings
  • Assist with employee expense reimbursement/payment process
  • Assist with preparation of compliance related filings
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes
  • Find solutions to accounting, financial reporting, and other related issues by researching and interpreting data
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Assist with the quarterly and annual financial reporting process, including the creation of financial statements, footnotes, and supporting calculations and documentation
  • Assist with annual audits including preparation of support schedules and responding to audit inquiries
  • Complete and assist with other department projects as needed
