Mike Ortlip

Mike Ortlip is a Senior Managing Director on the NewPoint Real Estate Capital originations team. He focuses on providing financing solutions for commercial real estate owners on a national basis through NewPoint’s Agency, HUD/FHA and Proprietary loan programs and third-party debt providers.

Prior to joining NewPoint, Ortlip was a Senior Vice President at Grandbridge Real Estate Capital, where he managed the firm’s headquarters production office in Charlotte, NC. Ortlip had been with Grandbridge and its predecessor companies for 25 years. Over his four-decade career, Ortlip has originated more than $9 billion in volume across a variety of loan structures and asset classes, including permanent, acquisition, bridge, mezzanine, preferred equity, and construction financing for virtually all income property types.

Ortlip is active in industry organizations and is a regular speaker at conferences. He is a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council, the Mortgage Bankers Association, ICSC and the Urban Land Institute. Ortlip is a member of ULI Charlotte’s Capital Markets Council, NMHC’s Finance Committee, and is both a current and former member of Freddie Mac’s Conventional Production Advisory Council. He is also a former member of Fannie Mae’s inaugural DUS® Originator Subcommittee, Allstate Insurance’s Advisory Council, and the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Multifamily Steering Committee.

Ortlip holds an MBA with emphases in real estate finance and construction management from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is on the Board of the Burns School of Real Estate in the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver where he advises and mentors the next generation of real estate leaders.
